TOTAL REQUEST WAS $432,000 OF WHICH THE VA WILL PAY HALF OR $216,000 AND THE SVH WILL CONTRIBUTE THE OTHER HALF. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION INCENTIVES, AND INCENTIVES FOR NEW HIRES LIVING MORE THAN 200 MILES FROM THE SVH. NEW HIRES WILL BE GIVEN $3,000 UPON INITIAL HIRE BUT MUST COMPLETE 6 MONTHS EMPLOYMENT TO RETAIN IT. AN ADDITIONAL $2,000 WILL BE GIVEN FOR THOSE WHO COMPLETE THEIR PROBATIONARY PERIOD. EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE COMPLETED A YEAR ON STATION WILL RECEIVE A $3,000 RETENTION BONUS.
